The 24th Annual Inter-House Sports Day was held on a beautiful sunny day on Thursday 14th of March 2019 at the Yaba College of Technology Center. Every year FNSB take a day out within the first quarter to celebrate the unifying nature of sports by having an Inter-House sports day where our trainees get to show off there skills and talents.
The Society believes very much in the message that we as a country and community must support the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. One of our ways of supporting integration is by providing opportunities for inclusion through sports. Everyone deserves a chance to participate in the same or similar sporting activities regardless whether they are special needs or not.
That is why we at FNSB are proud to be a part of the narrative having trained many gold medalists who have gone on to represent Nigeria in the Paralympics and many other international and local sports events. Some of our ex trainees include Taiwo Suleiman who currently represents Rivers State, Abiodun Omisola who represents Delta State and our resident sports instructor Funmi Olasunkanmi who just represented Lagos State at the National Sports Festival in Abuja.
This years Inter-House sports saw the trainees showing off their march past, 100m race, long jump, and bell ball skills.
It was a colorful event filled with high energy. Some of our Council Members and Trustee also participated in the blind folded fast walking activities which had many of our spectators, guest and students excited.
It was an eventful day and we cannot wait for what 2020 will bring in terms of breaking down more barriers affecting the blind.
